Reference feedback

Two references rated us Excellent in September 2026.

Rated Body Ops Coaching Excellent in both Quality of Service and Business and Customer Relations on a United States Army past performance questionnaire, September 2026.

"I would like to add a positive comment regarding Matt and his program that we as a high school hockey team participated in during the January 2013 to May 2015 time frame. Not only did the teams performance trend upwards in both strength and endurance but in had the effect in a drastic downward trend in injuries playing games and in practice. Matt also instilled a sense of discipline and confidence in these young men and women at a very important time in their lives. I coached the team for several years and the only regret I had was I should have reached out to Matt and his program earlier."

Founder experience

Fitness Facilities Management

Experience of founder Matt Priess

Matt Priess owned and operated two brick and mortar fitness businesses for approximately nine years. He managed a team of approximately 12 employees, including seven trainers and administrative and support staff, and was responsible for the entire operation: daily operations, staffing and scheduling, standard operating procedures, employee performance, program and class development, service quality, member engagement and retention, billing, financial oversight, marketing, sales and revenue generation.

He did not simply administer an existing fitness program. He designed the programs and class offerings, evaluated participation, and adapted services to member demand and attendance.

Daily operations

  • Oversaw classes beginning as early as 5:00 AM and ensured the facility was ready for daily operations.
  • Ensured trainers arrived early, prepared the facility and had each workout ready before clients arrived.
  • Kept scheduled classes properly staffed and delivered consistently.
  • Trained coaches to structure effective 30-minute workouts so clients received the most value from each session.
  • Monitored facility operations and addressed problems as they arose.

Program and class development

  • Served as creative lead for the fitness programs and class offerings.
  • Created and introduced classes based on member attendance, demand, engagement, feedback and observed needs.
  • Developed programs including high-intensity interval training, boot camps, yoga, Zumba, kids fitness, senior fitness and other specialty classes.
  • Monitored participation to determine which programs were succeeding and where new or different offerings were needed.
  • Continually adjusted the class schedule and programming to keep offerings fresh, increase participation and serve different populations and fitness levels.
  • Trained and assigned instructors to deliver each class format.

Staff management

  • Created and maintained systems and standard operating procedures that defined each employee's responsibilities and operating expectations.
  • Monitored whether employees completed assigned duties and followed up when responsibilities were missed.
  • Held trainer meetings to communicate expectations, standards and operational changes.
  • When a duty was not completed, worked with the employee to find the cause and to determine whether it was an individual performance issue or a weakness in the system or procedure that needed to be corrected.

Scheduling and coverage

  • Managed trainer schedules and class coverage.
  • Maintained backup and on-call trainers for unexpected absences.
  • Expected trainers requesting time off to arrange coverage among themselves whenever possible. Management stepped in only when coverage could not otherwise be arranged.
  • Ensured classes continued operating despite call-outs and scheduling conflicts.

Member management

  • Monitored member attendance, participation and engagement, and reached out to members whose attendance or engagement dropped.
  • Scheduled nutrition consultations when appropriate and required documentation after each one: what occurred, the client's current status and the recommended next steps.
  • Focused on accountability, retention and a high-quality member experience.

Billing and financial management

  • Regularly reviewed member billing and followed up on missed, failed or past-due payments.
  • Each month, compared recurring membership revenue with operating expenses, including rent, payroll, equipment and other business costs, to evaluate the financial health and profitability of the business.

Marketing and sales

  • Personally handled significant portions of marketing and sales: Facebook advertising and other marketing, email marketing, in-gym sales and membership acquisition.
  • Adjusted marketing and sales activity when more members or additional revenue were needed.

Scope and Boundaries

What we do, and what we do not.

Body Ops delivers health education and fitness instruction focused on safe movement, habit formation, and accountability structure. It is not clinical care, not medical treatment, not physical therapy, and not psychotherapy. Body Ops does not diagnose or prescribe.

Body Ops delivers without collecting protected health information. We do not request medical records and do not require diagnosis information. Where a contract requires outcomes reporting, we default to de-identified, aggregated reporting.

Programming is built for mixed-ability populations, with regressions, progressions, seated and supported options, and pain-rule guardrails.

Where routine physical access to controlled facilities or agency IT systems is required, we comply with federal identity credentialing requirements. We design delivery to be performed without agency system access.
